The VFW maintains a network of volunteer Service Officers that begins at the Post level. Comrade John Scarpino has for many years served in that capacity for VFW Post 3377. The Service Officer's primary repsonsibility is to assist and educate members of the Post about federal and state benefits earned through their military service. The Service Officer is the go to person for information and assistance with resources available to them concerning their benefits.

Comrade Scarpino's knowledge and dedication to his responsibilites is second to none. In 2005 he was selected as the VFW Department of Texas Service Officer of the Year. He diligently provides insightful and informative information to the post membership each and every month during the post General Meeting.

Comrade Scarpino is saluted by the members of VFW Post 3377 for his service to the Post and to all veterans.
